Visitor Castle Guest Appearance

Fans of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s Nana Visitor will be able to see her in an episode of Castle which will air next year.

Castle is a “comedy-drama” starring Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity) as Richard Castle. Castle is a mystery writer who is brought in for questioning by the NYPD after a serial killer uses his novel plots as inspiration for his murders. The author comes along on homicide investigations to assist the team in research and to get inspiration for his writing.

Visitor will be appearing in episode 13 of season four, in “An Embarrassment of Bitches,” where she will portray Dr. Phyllis Barker, an “eminent canine therapist whose talents are called upon when it’s discovered that one of her ‘clients’ witnessed a murder.”

The episode is said to be a “Kardashian-esque spoof” in which another guest star, Hilarie Burton (White Collar) will play Kay Cappuccio, “a woman ‘famous mostly for being famous’ who ‘feels a prisoner of her own celebrity lifestyle.”

Soon-to-be-former One Tree Hill star Hilarie Burton talks to E! Online about her imminent departure from the series,
"and guess what? Despite the fact that she was in contract negotiations at the time of the split, Burton claims it wasn't about the money.

"There really wasn't a lot of turmoil. It was a fabulous six-year run, which is how long my contract was for, and I feel really lucky to have been a part of the show," Burton clarifies. "So when I hear that there's turmoil or negotiations based on money it kind of hurts my feelings, because it's not what's been going on at all. I think my fan base in particular knows that money isn't necessarily a big motivator for me, that's why I work in the world of independent film."

As for whether it was her decision or the show's decision for her to leave, Burton hedges a bit.

"I think everyone was kind of agreeable about the situation. There were a lot of really wonderful conversations. It wasn't a rash decision; a lot of thought, emotion, and kindness was put into it. I would hope that that's the story that gets out—that it was a bunch of adults being good to each other and being kind about the decision-making process."

She continues, "The conversations that they had with me were very compassionate and very sweet. They told me that they valued me, and that meant a lot. And they also wanted me to be happy and challenged and excited."

Hmm; it's one thing to be "valued," and another to be kept on. But Burton appears to be happy with the final outcome, and says that scoring the role of Peyton Sawyer was "a fairytale. I feel really lucky to have that level of success right out of the gate."

As for what's next for Burton, she says that she'll be shooting a Web series starting on Memorial Day. "We've also got a television show that we're turning into a graphic novel, and we've got a film we're raising money for," she offers. "I'm busy."

‘One Tree Hill' house is going on the market

You know, Lucas and Peyton from "One Tree Hill." For many fans, they were the ultimate couple – lots of drama but also lots of romance. Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, the actors who played those characters, left after the show's sixth season. But now, fans – or anyone else for that matter – can own the ultimate piece of Lucas Scott memorabilia.

His house.

Owner Stephen Healy is moving out of the two-bedroom, two-bath 1,600-square-foot bungalow used as Lucas' home on "One Tree Hill," now in its eighth season.

"Six months after I bought it, they knocked on my door," Healy said.
This house on Wrightsville Avenue has been featured on 'One Tree Hill' since the show's first season.
An open house will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the set/home, 1829 Wrightsville Ave. Healy is asking $225,000 but will consider negotiating.

Although a copy of the interior and part of the porch was built on a sound stage at EUE/Screen Gems studios, the show used the real house from the first season through last season when another character used the home as a set for a movie. It was a set within a set.

A different house was used as Lucas' house in the pilot. But when the show was picked up for its first season, that owner decided not to sign a contract. (Healy said another contract restricts him from disclosing how much "One Tree Hill" paid to use his house.) Healy's home was the runner-up for the pilot, so producers contacted him.

This week marks the beginning of the annual dress and accessories drive in Oakland and elsewhere throughout the Bay Area. Princess Project's development chairperson, Yvette M. Nichols, said the organization hoped to outfit 2,700 girls this year.

"We like to have at least four or five dresses per girl so they don't feel like they are getting the last one on the rack," she said.

Princess Project kicks off prom dress drive

Every year, at high schools throughout the country, teens and their parents shell out hundreds, even thousands, of dollars on proms. For many students, the tradition is a highlight of their high school experience. For others, it's a stressful time because they can't afford all that goes with prom night -- beginning with the prom dress.

In 2002, Kristin Smith Knutson and Laney Whitcanack sent e-mails to some of their friends to see if they had any usable cocktail or bridesmaid dresses they could donate to teens. Word spread, people embraced the idea and the San Francisco-based Princess Project was formed.

Since it began, the volunteer-run organization has given away more than 5,000 dresses and accessories.

"I felt like royalty," one girl wrote in the "princess diaries" post on the group's Web site, princessproject.org.

"We like to have at least four or five dresses per girl so they don't feel like they are getting the last one on the rack," she said.

The organization is accepting formal gowns or party dresses that are less than five years old and that have been dry-cleaned and properly hung. The accessories must be clean, fashionable and in

Girls will select their dresses on March 17 and on March 24 at a San Francisco location that has yet to be announced. They don't need to show financial need -- just a valid high school ID.

At 8 a.m. on the "giveaway" days, the teenagers begin lining up to receive wristbands; they each have a half hour to shop. They leave with a dress, an accessory and a bag with such things as makeup and coupons for florists. Maybelline donated 2,800 tubes of lip gloss this year.

Princess Project also hosts boutique nights where groups of 10 girls or more come together and shop. Organizers reach out to juvenile detention centers, foster care homes, churches and synagogues to arrange the events.

A satellite group has organized in the South Bay, and within the next three years, organizers hope to have full-fledged operations in San Francisco, the South Bay and the East Bay.

Last year, more than 40 percent of the participating girls were from the East Bay, 30 percent were from San Francisco and the rest were from other outlying areas.

"The girls are just really appreciative," Nichols said. "It is a great opportunity for the volunteers as well."

About 30 similar groups have been created around the country and Canada, including the Glass Slipper in New York, Fairy Godmother in Arizona and the Sequin Dreams Project in Florida.

In California alone, four charitable prom organizations -- the Princess Project, Cinderella's closet, the Belle of the Ball and the Cinderella Project -- offer free prom dresses and other services.
